Does Effective SEO Really Cost $2000.00?

Most clients will begin to see a Return on Investment (ROI) soon after we’ve been working on a campaign for around 6 to 9 months. What we recommend is to base your ROI on the increase in visits to your site via organic traffic, then apply a conversion rate and compute an average price per customer.

If that all makes sense and works out correctly, then $2,000 a month shouldn’t cause you to lose any sleep at night. There are several SEO companies that are charging 2 to 3 times that amount, without really letting their customers know what it is that they’re getting. If you were to pay for SEO services by the hour, as a comparison, it would run you in the neighborhood of $200 to $250.

The way we at On Top Texas work is rather unique in the SEO industry. We create a budget for you, take a percentage for ourselves and then use the rest for your campaign, showing you exactly how the money was spent and what was done on your behalf. This is very different from most SEO companies, who often send out charts at the end of the month that are very hard to read and decipher.

As an example, we spend around 40 percent of your monthly budget in creating and posting written materials via “guest posts.” We also dedicate 12-15 hours a month to your project, so we’re actually charging quite a bit less per hour than our competitors.

But what about those companies that promise me top Google rankings for $500 or less?

Remember that old adage about something being too good to be true? Well, this is a perfect example of that.

It’s ultimately your decision how you want to proceed as far as your SEO and online presence are concerned. But if you do decide to go with a company that promises you the moon for a very small amount of money, just keep in mind that it’s going to cost substantially more down the road to fix the damage caused by unethical SEO companies.

Google will likely penalize you and you will have to pay a reputable SEO company penalty removal services, which can start in the $5,000 and up range. We’re not saying this to scare you, it’s just a fact should you want to recover from a penalty.

At On Top Texas, we actually spend your monthly budget on writing services, paid postings, public relations connections and other methods that have been proven to work over time. Other companies, especially the “too good to be true” ones mentioned above, may do nothing more than give you some free “spammy” links that cost nothing, are poor quality and then up pocketing your monthly budget.

Those spammy link tactics, quite simply, don’t work these days. And these “too good to be true” companies know that all too well.

Which is better, SEO or Running Ads like PPC?

At On Top Texas, we firmly believe in the effectiveness of organic SEO, but we also know that Pay Per Click (PPC) advertisements can be the right way to go for certain businesses. In many cases, a hybrid approach might actually work best, but it really all depends on the business or project and what makes sense from an ROI standpoint.

We do, however, believe that organic traffic is more powerful over time than PPC. It’s more measurable and will almost certainly give you a greater rate of return on your investment in the long run.

Many companies do have great success with advertisements. But keep in mind that if you stop running those ads, you also stop getting business. You also may be dealing with clicks that are from sales people and not even potential customers, which can further skew your results.

Organic traffic is broken down by expected traffic for each position, whereas PPC is on a bidding system and you need to have a lot of things just right in order to segregate traffic into a tiny funnel.

Organic positions can be owned for months, or even years, before your competitors can begin to touch you. For these reasons, organic traffic outperforms PPC in the long run from an ROI standpoint nearly every time.

Do You Guarantee Your Services?

No one can legitimately guarantee their SEO services, though some companies will certainly make that claim. In reality, there are hundreds of algorithmic changes every single year that no one really has any control over.

Every SEO firm deals with this, but we do our very best to identify problems and correct them as quickly as possible. This allows us to recover from minor updates before our clients ever get penalized, which can be invaluable in both the short and the long term.

We’re connected to large firms and senior peers with many years of industry experience, which means that someone in our network will be able to interpret and understand the update and be able to fix it in the shortest amount of time.

What we do guarantee is that we’ll always use white hat SEO, which is the industry’s best practice, and ethical standards that are in compliance with Google’s Webmaster Terms.

We never take shortcuts, nor will be ever compromise our reputation or the reputations of our clients. We are very transparent from Day One, clearly mapping out what it is that we’re doing for our clients, and when we’re doing it. We also use SEO tools and metrics such as “keyword difficulty” to gauge about how long we think it will take to make a noticeable difference for your company.

“But some SEO companies have guaranteed their services”

These companies are usually from overseas and we hear quite often about companies that need to hire attorneys to try and get their money back. Sadly, this is not usually possible because they’re not physically located in the United States.

Simply put, no one can guarantee you anything. Unless they happen to work for Google, that is.

How Will I Know Your SEO Services Will Work For Me?

If you already have a functioning website and have indicated an interest, we’ll analyze your site and then either take you on as a client or we won’t. There are some businesses that we just simply cannot help, due to a variety of possible reasons.

Some of the more common reasons are financial ones. If you’re trying to compete for keywords like electronics on a nationwide scale, for example, that would cost you millions of dollars in order to effectively compete with large corporations.

If we start working together, what will you do?

Some of our initial work will include:

  • Analyzing your site to check for penalties
  • Performing a site audit to check for health, including speed, mobile compatibility, etc.
  • Keyword Analysis (Month 1)
  • On Page SEO & Technical SEO Implementation (Month 2)
  • Off Page SEO (month to month), link building, citations, guest posts, etc. (6-9 months typically). You will own all content and links that we create on your behalf.

Will You Do Consulting?

Absolutely! We love working with fresh clients and giving them ideas of what lies ahead when it comes to competitors and SEO.

We typically charge anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000, depending on the scale of the project. We will deliver documents and analysis and can also assist with marketing pieces of your business plan. We can also provide teleconferences and briefings to stakeholders, if needed.
